Remember the famous Stella D'Oro anisette cookies? When we lived in New York in the 60s and 70s I used to have them almost every morning with tea. They are actually originally from Sicily, most probably from Castellammare del Golfo ... that's were the best ones were found at the time. Now you can find them in any bread shop, pastry shop or cafès in Sicily. I am not crazy about the store bought ones though, so I prefer making my own at home. All you need are eggs, sugar and anise seeds.
