Cupcake Parade

Cupcakes still haven't taken on here in Sicily. Some shops and cafès are beginning to serve them but very few. You can get them at McDonald's but I prefer my homemade ones.

Here are some of them .... before and after the makeover. 

Perchè si chiamano Cupcakes?

Avete mai pensato perchè le cupcakes si chiamano, appunto, CUPCAKES? Cup in inglese vuold dire "tazza" e le cupcakes infatti erano cotte in una tazzina, cup ...onde il nome. Altri nomi sono Fairy Cakes, Buns o Patty Cakes. Paese che vai, nomi che trovi. 

Ecco le cupcakes oggi nel menu. 

Simple Cupcake recipe / Impasto base per cupcakes e muffins

Here is a very easy cupcake recipe:

150 grams self-raising flour

100 grams sugar

120 grams butter

2 eggs

4 Tablespoons milk

pinch of salt

vanilla

Mix butter and sugar, add the eggs one at a time. Then mix in flour and salt. Add milk and vanilla.

Place 2 Tablespoons of the mixture in each cupcake tin and bake at 180° C  for 15-20 minutes.

Cool and decorate with your favorite frosting.
